Welcome to the MDFNC Web-site

Dear Members and Friends,

Welcome to our website - the ‘virtual’ home of The Villains. Thanks to the work of members Graeme Haycraft and Barry Thomas, you’ll be able to keep abreast of the Club’s development & growth and follow our team of Veterans as they fight for premiership glory!

As you can see in our masthead we have a new mascot. For this the club is indebted to the hugely talented AFL caricaturist Paul (Harv) Harvey. Paul has done a superb job in creating our new ‘Villain’ mascot – a lovable rogue who will delight our members and supporters for many years to come.

The first committee meeting of the Club for 2012 occurred in January with committee members enthusiastically looking forward to the new season ahead.

New member Alan Hall was welcomed aboard and Merran Guest was appointed to the Treasurer’s role.

Dean Connell was reappointed unanimously as Coach of our Veterans team and past members, Andy Willans, Barry Bird, Grace Ross and Ron Denmead were acknowledged for their great contributions. All have expressed their keen support to assist where possible. Further details of the meeting can be found
here.

Our 2nd season in the Veterans competition is fast approaching. Coach Dean will no doubt have much to tell you about this year’s team and the Villains prospects for the season ahead. Having tasted victory for the first time in over 28 years by defeating the highly talented Croydon North side, our sights are set on climbing the League ladder into a top spot.

Your support in attending matches, especially when the boys run out on to the Trevor Harrow oval, will be much appreciated.

Even if you are unable to be there in person you can greatly assist our efforts by taking out Club membership. For the price of a couple of cups of coffee your membership dollars will help us grow and prosper. Just send us an email
(click here) with your name and address and we’ll send you an application form.

Of course this season Marysville will be the envy of the other clubs with the newest and finest facilities available. New club rooms, hot showers!! and great spectator facilities with a fabulous platform allowing a bird’s eye view of matches.

With a veterans team now firmly in place our future focus will be firmly fixed on continuing to develop facilities at Gallipoli Park to the highest possible standard and to redouble our efforts of developing a junior football programme with Auskick. Success in these two areas will see the club continue to grow from strength to strength.

We hope you enjoy the news and highlights of the season ahead and that you will return often to keep abreast of the latest club news.

Thank you for your solid support thus far and we look forward to your continued support as the club grows and expands.

Best regards,

John Phillips
President
Marysville District Football and Netball Club

Go the Villains.....

Over the next few years, the M&DFC plan to be able to:

  • facilitate the 'importation' of country football fixtures to Gallipoli Park over the next few years (in much the same way that Tasmania do with Hawthorn, albeit at the grass roots level)
  • market Gallipoli Park as a regional venue of high quality that not only attracts imported football fixtures, but taps in to the financially lucrative football club pre season training camp market
  • develop an Auskick centre for primary school aged children
  • develop junior teams in a nearby league
  • develop a veterans team in a nearby league.
